Salwan Public School, Gurugram—under the august and enlightened aegis of the Salwan Education Trust—unfurled its Annual Day 2025 on December 7 as an evening that transcended convention, emerging as a resplendent confluence of erudition, artistry, and imagination. Suffused with aesthetic opulence and moral gravitas, the celebration eloquently embodied the Trust’s credo, “Nation Building through Education,” affirming that true education is not mere instruction but a catalytic force that chisels character, ignites creativity, and elevates society.
The décor and lighting, conceived around the evocative theme “Darpan” (The Mirror), bathed the campus in a radiant ambience that mirrored both self-reflection and celebration. The opening ensemble, “Saat Suron Mein Sunāyen,” featuring nearly a hundred students and parents, set a sublime tone as music and orchestral harmony converged to deliver a compelling message on environmental stewardship The cultural programme unfurled with a divine invocation on “Shivshankaraya,” where students, through ethereal classical movements and devotional finesse, evoked an atmosphere of serenity and spiritual splendour, captivating the audience from the very first note.
A radiant pinnacle of the evening was the presentation of the School Annual Report by Principal Rashmi Malik, joined by the President and Vice President of the Student Council. With eloquent exactitude and an orator’s poise, she encapsulated the institution’s landmark achievements—its scholastic triumphs on national and international platforms, its innovative pedagogical enterprises, and its visionary initiatives poised to shape the years ahead. She lauded the spirited involvement of students in the school’s signature social endeavours— “Go Green Gurugram,” “Say No to Crackers,” “Ek Tareekh–Ek Ghanta–Saath Saath,” and the Prime Minister’s campaign “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam.” Her address further highlighted the compelling Independence Day street play performed by a hundred students, and the school’s distinguished stewardship as host of the International Confederation of Principals Conference, a milestone that underscored its global stature.
The evening’s pride was magnified through the felicitation of students and teachers whose laurels at state and national stages illuminated the school’s ethos of excellence. The distinguished Chief Guest, Lieutenant General Surinder Singh (PVSM, AVSM, VSM), extolled the institution’s vision and urged learners to cultivate resilience, discipline, and integrity. The revered Chairman, Dr. Prasad Medury, with his erudition and sagacious counsel, suffused the gathering with intellectual luminosity; his reflections—perspicacious yet deeply humanistic—reaffirmed education’s power to shape both the individual mind and the broader social fabric.
Adding further depth to the intellectual milieu, Padma Shri Professor Bharat Gupt offered incisive observations on the transformative potency of art, while District Education Officer Capt. Indu Boken Kasana commended the school’s community-driven initiatives and emphasised the indispensable role of parents in sustaining socio-emotional well-being. She noted that parents are vital in helping children navigate the pressures of multiple engagements by fostering balance, emotional support, open communication, healthy coping habits, adequate rest, and meaningful bonding.
The presence of Smt. Sukhwant Kaur Ji, honoured for her unwavering service to welfare initiatives for defence families, imbued the occasion with dignity and warmth. Mr. Ken Yano of the Japan Foundation graced the event, symbolising intercultural harmony and global collaboration. Adding a note of heartfelt pride was Ms. Swarnim Bhardwaj, an accomplished alumna, whose distinguished career rekindled admiration for the boundless promise nurtured within the school’s corridors—standing as a living testament to its enduring legacy of excellence.
The dramatic centrepiece, Dasta e Darpan: The Saga of the Enslaved Mind, emerged as a socio spiritual allegory on maya—illusion, ego, and vanity—that clouds judgment and corrodes moral strength. Its blend of humour, folk idioms, and classical gravitas lent theatrical depth, while its resonance lay in unveiling how digital distractions and hollow validations ensnare the modern mind. As the curtains fell, the audience departed with more than admiration—they carried the enduring truth that while illusion may dazzle, it is truth alone that endures.
