Leveraging a Legacy...

The Salwan Education Trust (SET) is a name greatly revered in the field of education. Established in 1941 at Peshawar by Late Pandit Girdhari Lal Salwan, a great patriot who dedicated his life to the service of the nation, the Trust has been a beacon of hope and learning for over eight decades. A man of exceptional courage and dynamism, he became the saviour and messiah for thousands of refugees during the Partition of India and Pakistan. Born in 1902, Pt. Girdhari Lal Salwan was a visionary who vowed to impart education free of cost to the needy from all sections of society, thereby laying the foundation of the Trust.

Through the establishment of Salwan Sanatan Dharam High School for Boys and Salwan Sanatan Dharam High School for Girls in 1942 at Peshawar, he realized his dream of “Education for All.” His commitment continued in post-Independence India with the establishment of Salwan Boys School (1949), Salwan Girls School (1952), and Salwan Public School (1953) in New Delhi. These institutions stand as testimony to his dedication towards educating the children of a resurgent nation and his lifelong commitment to the welfare and upliftment of the less fortunate.

A man of great foresight, Pt. G.L. Salwan conceptualized the sharing of facilities and resources between public schools and schools for the underprivileged, creating a unique Public–Private Partnership model that ensures optimum utilization of resources across the four Salwan Schools at the Rajendra Nagar Campus. Today, eight educational institutions under the aegis of the Trust continue to strive for nation building with unparalleled zeal, upholding the vision and philosophy of its founder.
