विस्मृत कृतियाँ – IGNCA Art Exhibition

Celebrating India’s Timeless Artistry — Vismrit Krityan ’25 Opens at IGNCA New Delhi, October 31, 2025 — The Salwan Education Trust, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, inaugurated Vismrit Krityan ’25 – Rediscovering Forgotten Art Forms at the Darshanam–II Art Gallery, IGNCA, Janpath. The exhibition, open to visitors from November 1 to 5 (10 am – 5 pm), was a sincere endeavour to revive and preserve Bharat’s fading traditional art through the artistic interpretations of young learners.
Guided by the Trust’s enduring mission to celebrate, conserve, and promote India’s rich artistic and cultural heritage, Vismrit Krityan ’25 showcases extensive research and creative work by the students and faculty of Salwan Institutions. Through meticulous study and innovation, they have reimagined diverse art forms such as Pattachitra, Madhubani, and Warli, embodying the splendour and depth of India’s creative traditions.
The inaugural ceremony on 31st October began with a soulful invocation inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s philosophy of harmony between education, existence, and art, followed by the traditional lamp lighting that symbolized the light of creativity and culture. Distinguished guests in attendance included Ms. Manmohan Kaur, Adviser, Ministry of Education; Padma Shri Smt. Ranjana Gauhar, eminent Odissi exponent; Shri Benoy K. Behl, filmmaker and art historian; and Shri Anandamoy Banerji, printmaker and visual artist.
In his reflections, Shri Banerji shared that “Art can be anything — as vast as time and as personal as space,” while Shri Behl inspired the young audience, affirming that “Everyone can be an artist.” Both dignitaries interacted personally with the student exhibitors and appreciated their creativity and dedication.
The Ceremony concluded with a Gallery Walk, where guests explored artworks that bridged the traditional and contemporary. The exhibition stood as a testament to the Trust’s vision of holistic, value-based education and its mission to nurture artistic sensitivity and cultural consciousness among youth.
During the five days of the exhibition, the gallery witnessed enthusiastic visits from visual artists, photographers, art educators, students from various Delhi NCR schools, parents, Bloggers, school alumni, and research scholars. The event also drew attention from delegates of other countries, journalists, and professionals from esteemed institutions and departments such as the Ministry of Culture, BSNL, Customs, Ministry of External Affairs, and design and art conservation fields — reflecting the wide resonance of this creative initiative across diverse communities. Many artworks from the exhibition have also been selected for display once again during the upcoming show at IGNCA titled Soundscapes by IPRS, marking yet another recognition of the students’ creative excellence.
The exhibition recorded an impressive footfall of nearly 3,000 visitors, reflecting the wide resonance of this creative initiative across diverse communities. Many artworks from the exhibition have also been selected for another display during the upcoming show from 10-12 November 2025 at IGNCA titled Soundscapes of India by IPRS, marking yet another recognition of the students’ creative excellence. Additionally, students of Salwan Institutions have been given an opportunity to attend an exclusive session by Padma Bhushan Javed Akhtar on “The Art of Songwriting” and to perform classical instrumental music for the audience at IGNCA, further enriching their artistic experience.
Through Vismrit Krityan ’25, Salwan Education Trust reaffirms its commitment to enabling students to think creatively, reconnect with their roots, and celebrate Indian art in its natural form — ensuring that the nation’s artistic legacy continues to inspire generations to come.
